Yanbu’s 12th Flower and Garden Festival has opened, this time featuring 40 colors of flowers. Imported from the Netherlands, the flowers are grown by the nursery of the Royal Commission in Yanbu Industrial Park, the organizer of the event. Engineer Saleh Zahrani of the commission said they have found it cheaper to import flower seeds from various countries and grow the types that have adapted well in the region’s climate. He identified the species being grown as the Bethunia, Mary Gold, Brassica, Ere Dic, Cosmos, Matiola, Sunflowers, Pears, Cloves, Hibiscus, Isimus, Seven Hernes, Allstex, Jiranium, Girate, Panci, Impants, Dracula and Salvia. Aside from using the flowers for the festival, the Royal Commission in Yanbu Industrial also plants them locations such as the sea facades, public utilities, roads and main streets and the entrances and exits of Yanbu Industrial.
